CARICOM Consumer Protection Course Now Open for Enrollment

The CARICOM Competition Commission (CCC) is delighted to announce the launch of its online Consumer Protection Course, developed in collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Connectivity Agenda Section. This course is designed specifically for consumer protection officials in the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) and represents a significant step towards fortifying the region’s consumer protection framework.

Course Highlights:

  • Objective: The course aims to enhance the capacity of consumer protection officials and NGOs within the CSME member states by providing a comprehensive understanding of consumer protection laws, best practices, and emerging trends.
  • Expert Facilitation: Dr. Iris Benöhr, a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Law at Queen Mary University of London and Deputy Director of the Institute for Competition and Consumers (ICC), leads the course. Additionally, contributions from regional consumer protection authorities and the CCC enrich the content.
  • Critical Areas: The curriculum covers critical areas, ensuring participants are well-versed in enforcing consumer protection laws. It also explores both national and regional consumer protection legislation.
  • Virtual Seminars: As part of the course, two virtual seminars will be held on 3rd May 2023 and 15th June 2023, providing an interactive platform for discussions and insights.
